Talking through what is bothering us to develop insight and awareness helps about 50 percent of the problem—you’ve probably heard that “awareness is half the battle.” So then, I ask my clients, what happens with the other 50 percent? Just discovering why you do the things you do does not typically make any changes in the undesirable behaviors, it just makes you painfully aware of why you’re doing it, and those behaviors feel out of your conscious control.
Venting your feelings to someone who cares can help you feel better…temporarily. My philosophy is that a temporary improvement is settling for less when there is healing technology such as HBLU that can create lasting change.
